Gilbert Kane is a fictional character from the 1979 science fiction horror film, Alien. He was portrayed by actor John Hurt.
Kane served as the Executive Officer aboard the commercial towing vehicle, USCSS Nostromo. He is notable for being the first crew member to be attacked by a facehugger alien organism, which implanted an embryo within him.
During the film's iconic "chestburster" scene, the alien larva violently erupts from Kane's chest during the crew's dinner, resulting in his death. This marked a pivotal moment in the film and introduced the terrifying Xenomorph creature to audiences.
